Practical guidelines for HEI

These practical recommendation guidelines for Higher education institutions (HEI) are based on

Quality Assurance Guidelines for Erasmus Virtual Mobility produced under TeaCamp WP6 by Juris Dzelme, HEQEC, Latvia.

HEI should start VM practices with the establishment of VM concepton at an institution.

TeaCamp suggested definition of VM is the following:

"Virtual ERASMUS mobility (VM) is a form of formal higher education, research and communication, based on a cooperation of at least 2 higher education institutions (HEI), which includes significant virtual component through an ICT supported learning environment and virtual social communication, and has appropriate design to include collaboration between people from different backgrounds and/or cultures working and studying together, having, as its main purpose the enhancement of social communication, mutual understanding of people and the exchange of knowledge and skills, similar as in case of cooperation within the framework of physical mobility".

HEI should consider if suggested VM definition is compatible with the strategic aims of HEI and action priorities.

This can be facilitated by answering the questionnaire Quality assurance for Virtual Mobility availble at Elgg virtual campus for professional networking at

Here is also the scenario for virtual mobility implementation developed during TeaCamp project. European institutions who validated the scenario confirmed that it is realistic and well planned for the current status of virtual mobility in Europe.
